On May 16-19, 2019, top managers ofAll China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives and CNAMPGC led by ACFSMC President Ms. Wang Xia visited Belarusian Potash Company and the operations of Belaruskali. During the visit, parties discussed factors and trends in the development of Chinese agriculture, as well as the perspectives of the potash market in the PRC.
In particular, one of the subjects of the discussion was the development of potash container shipments to China. Such type of shipments is a perspective trend, as it provides the higher level of service. In general, BPC gives a lot of attention to the organization of container shipments; in 2018, their share comprised about 10% of total export.
Since January 2019, BPC and its key Chinese partner – CNAMPGC – have launched a test period for container shipments, which confirmed the great potential of this area of collaboration and led to the signing of a new Memorandum on Cooperation between BPC and CNAMPGC aimed at the development of container deliveries to the PRC market.
The Memorandum was signed by the Director General of OJSC Belarusian Potash Company Ms. Elena Kudryavets and the Deputy General Manager of CNAMPGC Ms. Wang Bei. The document provides for the delivery of more than 0.5 mln tonnes of potash fertilizers to China in 2019-2023, which is a significant amount for such type of shipments. This Memorandum is a sizeable addition to the previously signed 5-year Memorandum on Cooperation for the deliveries of potash fertilizers to CNAMPGC.
Speaking of the Belarusian supplier’s progress in the PRC market ACFSMC President Ms. Wang Xia said, ‘With the changes in the fertilizer demand pattern in China, targeted and highly effective logistics have already become an important requirement. In that respect, we are very pleased to sign the Memorandum on Cooperation between BPC and CNAMPGC regarding the supply of potash fertilizers in containers. We are confident that this format will become a new milestone in our relations. We also believe that in future CNAMPGC will promptly and efficiently promote high-quality BPC products in the end-user market, and this will give us an opportunity to make a joint contribution to the increasing quality and effectiveness of Chinese agriculture at this important stage of fertilizer market structure modernization.’
Emphasizing the importance of such a high-status delegation and this new document, Ms. Elena Kudryavets noted, ‘Our fruitful cooperation with ACFSMC and CNAMPGC is based on mutual strive for constant development and growth. Container shipments create a new area in our cooperation, and the signed Memorandum will become another step in the development of potash business of CNAMPGC in China. For its part, BPC intends to continue optimizing potash supplies to the PRC market, perfecting logistics solutions, adapting to the agricultural needs of this country and reaffirming broad perspectives of cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the People’s Republic of China.’
